Immigration to Canada based on Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP)
General background
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada and who are interested in settling in a particular province. Provincial Nominee Programs are made up of streams which are immigration programs that candidates can apply for. Each stream is designed to target certain groups a province needs, like skilled workers, students and business people, among others.
Obtaining a provincial nomination through one of the immigration streams is a valuable route to Canadian permanent residence.
Apart from Nunavut and Quebec, each Canadian province has its own unique Provincial Nominee Program. Each PNP has at least one immigration stream that is aligned with the federal Express Entry immigration selection system. Provincial nominations issued under Express Entry streams are enhanced nominations and provide Express Entry candidates with an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.
Who is the program for?
